European Union Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak said he is worried by what he heard from people in the north of Kosovo.
“It was important for me to again visit the north of Kosovo and talk to different interlocutors in order to get my own firsthand impression of the current situation. What I heard left me worried,” Lajcak said in a Twitter post.
“We need to avoid any possibility of escalation and fully focus on normalisation,” he added.
Lajcak met with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Pristina on Thursday morning before going to the divided city of Mitrovica in the north of Kosovo.
He met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Friday.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after his meeting with Lajcak that he is also very worried about the situation in Kosovo, especially because the Quint countries are playing dumb and because of Albin Kurti’s passionate need to create incidents and conflicts,”
