The head of the Ministry of Energy German Galushchenko believes that in the near future Ukraine will have a stable situation with energy supply. According to him, now the system is working in a “deficit-free mode”, and later limits may not be needed at all.
“Now the system is operating in a deficit-free mode, the third week has already begun, as the production of electricity fully provides for consumption. We have corresponding reserves. We have plans to continue to support the energy system in such a way that people do not feel the limitation of supplies,” Mr. Galushchenko said on the air of the telethon (quoted by the Strana newspaper).
“I really hope that in the near future we will not need limits at all for the regions in terms of electricity consumption,” he added.
He explained that the issue of resuming electricity exports can only start if a stable electricity surplus is established in the system. He called the restoration of power supply where there is still damage to the networks a paramount task.
On February 13, Ukrenergo reported that the rate of restoration of the energy system of Ukraine is higher than the rate of destruction. Russia has been delivering massive strikes against Ukrainian energy facilities since October 2022. Due to the attacks, Ukrenergo declared a state of emergency in December.
