Adoption of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of the RS criminalizing slander and insult in the National Assembly of the RS and determination of the Draft Law on the Special Register and Publicity of the Work of Non-Profit Organizations by the Government of the RS on the same day, is an ominous announcement of the real intentions of the ruling regime in this entity to completely disable the rights and freedom of speech, opinion, gathering and action of all opponents, said Srđan Blagovčanin, President of the Board of Directors of Transparency International BiH, in a statement for FENA.
He reminds that these legal solutions were adopted despite the reactions of the public, citizens, media, civil society activists, the international community, including the United Nations, the European Union, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and many others, whereby the ruling regime only confirms its repressive nature.
“If the intentions are realized and these legal regulations come into force, the activity of free media and civil society organizations in the RS, as well as the freedom of speech of all citizens, will no longer be possible. By all accounts, we will have a mini Belarus within Bosnia and Herzegovina,” says Blagovčanin.
Unfortunately, he emphasized, in the past few days an atmosphere of lynching was created in the RS, orchestrated from the top of the executive power, which resulted in a series of violent attacks on the media, journalists and civil society activists.
