About 55 percent of young people, if they have to choose, opt for the East, according to research by the umbrella organization of the youth of Serbia.
About 36 percent of young people in Serbia have a negative sentiment towards the European Union, one in five reacts positively, and one in two is neutral, according to research conducted by the Serbian Youth Umbrella Organization, on the eve of Youth Day, which is celebrated on August 12.
This means that 46 percent of young people have a neutral attitude towards the Union, and 18 percent have a positive reaction, writes FoNet.
“Support is not something we can brag about. At the moment, young people do not see the EU as a guarantor of stability, security and some kind of prosperity,” Koms General Secretary Miljana Pejić told Radiotelevision of Serbia.
A more negative opinion about the EU than last year
She assessed that young people react to the EU more negatively than last year.
Pejić added that about 55 percent of young people, if they had to choose, chose the East.
As she said, young people usually do not want to choose, because they want Serbia to balance.
“We interpret that with the public discourse, the narrative, as well as their emotional impression of foreign policy,” Pejić said.
